  • I will polish and organize your document and evaluate its content, such as the strength of and evidence for your arguments and missing or redundant information. Writers of books, essays, theses, & dissertations have found this service especially helpful.

  • I offer this service primarily for early-career researchers (ECRs) who are unsure where to start, or how to proceed, in the dissertation-to-book transition. I will read your dissertation and provide a written report highlighting strengths, challenges, the work’s readiness for publication, and suggestions on how to proceed.

  • I will copy edit your document while focusing on enhancing and improving writing style (clarifying main points, eliminating wordiness and jargon, fixing sentence structure, and improving paragraph sequencing and document flow).

  • I will use my eagle eye to improve grammar, syntax, word usage, punctuation, subject/verb agreement, and tense consistency.

  • I will read your nearly finished document and correct it for typos and other minor errors. I also proofread page proofs from publishers.

  • I will ensure that your bibliography or references list conforms to common style guides, including Chicago, APA, MLA, and AMA. You can also hire me to add to or create your bibliography using Zotero.

Dr. Adina M. Yoffie offers a variety of services for both academics and popular writers. She will improve your grammar, syntax, and word usage; rewrite awkward sentences; and improve your style and the clarity of your points. She has extensive experience working with non-native English speakers.

Her specialty is developmental editing for graduate students and early-career researchers who are writing or polishing dissertations, articles, and first or second books. Adina advises on the dissertation-to-book (or article) transition, helping the author strengthen the argument of the whole work and/or specific chapters, update the bibliography, and write or revising the book proposal and response to reader reports. She also provides coaching, editing, and formatting services to more senior scholars.

She has experience working with authors of popular, including self-published, books as well. And she edits college, law-school, medical-school, business-school, and residency applications.
